About Me

about me header2

My name is Chris Nelson and I am a graduate of Lincoln Christian University with a degree in Youth and Family Ministry. I also have a Master’s in Theology and Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary. Currently I serve as the Lead Student Minister at Current – A Christian Church in Katy, Texas. We are a growing church of around 1,500 with a growing student ministry of around 170 students. I love getting to share the love of Christ in the lives of students, and doing life alongside them and their families. I am sincerely passionate about equipping students to use their giftedness to serve Christ and His Church. Another passion of mine is discipling students and helping them learn how to create disciples as well.

I am married to the most wonderful girl I know, Natalie. She is my best friend and an excellent support and encouragement in ministry. We were married June 15, 2013 and I am so excited that I get to partner with her to share the gospel to students for our lifetime. We have two kids, one boy and one girl. They constantly keep us on our toes, and we absolutely love it.

God is continuing to teach me and grow me. He has shown me some crazy awesome things, taken me to some crazy awesome places, and I cannot wait to see what else he has in store for me. This website is an opportunity for you to get to know me more, see where I have been and where I am going, check out my résumé, and hopefully get some helpful resources.

Thanks,

Chris Nelson

  1. Thank you for posting this!!! I cringe every time I hear some of the younger people at church starting a prayer with “Hey Daddy” or even worse, “Hey Boo!” or maybe it’s worse when the call God their BAE. I love their exuberance in expressing their love for God, but the generation coming up now sees everyone as their peer it seems. No one seems to deserve deference and respect. We are all in this world together so why not? We should always be in deference to the Lord. While there are some Scripture and texts that call Jesus our friend, God is our Creator and King and He is no ones Daddy, Boo or BAE.
